Shire on Sports: The NHL

by Taylor Shire

Another year of hockey is starting up and with a few big name players moving around to different teams, it’s shaping up to be an interesting season. The defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Boston Bruins, didn’t make any big roster splashes, but do they have enough drive to battle for the Cup again? In this week’s edition of Shire on Sports, I’ll break down who to watch for on each team in the Eastern Conference and where I think they will finish.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are going to have to start executing.

The Riders failed to execute in a game versus the B.C. Lions and Calgary Stampeders in Week 13 and 14 respictively, and with five games left in the regular season, they are going to need a different effort.

Professional MMA still illegal in Saskatchewan

Multiple generations of Saskatchewan Roughriders cheerleaders got together at Mosaic stadium on Sept. 17, 2011 to share stories and reminisce on 50 years of supporting their team and entertaining huge crowds.

“It’s 50 years since the Riders cheerleaders were formed and we had a 25-year anniversary in 1986 so a couple of years ago we decided we should start planning the 50th.” said Deb Ruhr, committee chair and former Roughrider cheerleader from 1969 to 1974.
