It’s rich, it’s creamy, and it’s illegal.

The sale of raw (not pasteurized or homogenized) milk is banned in Canada, but on Nov. 23, raw milk drinkers around the country rallied against the law.

“It needs to be brought to the public’s attention that we really don’t have the rights and freedoms for choosing the foods that we want to put in our mouths,” said Katy Helliwell, organizer of the Freedom Food Rally in Regina.

This confectionary is a lucky one

by Christopher Yip

There’s something about the Westside Confectionary in Normanview that sets it apart from other corner stores: it’s got a golden track record in the lottery.

Jody Lewis has worked behind various store counters for 15 years. Two years ago, in Westside’s first year of business, he sold the winning million-dollar ticket to Wayne Kozak.

This month, Chris Lovely bought a LOTTO MAX ticket and won $100,000.

The organization employs adults with special needs who worked from July until October making Christmas decorations for the Queen City.

Accident raises concern

by Austin M. Davis

At noon on Monday, a teenage boy successfully jaywalks across Sherwood Drive. Two days earlier, a 60-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in nearly the same spot and around the same time.

Residents of the community are concerned that Saturday’s accident could happen again.

The 3800 block of Sherwood Drive is near two high schools and an elementary school. There are three bus stops, a strip mall, a Safeway, and a gas station. People of all ages are frequently crossing the street and a lack of crosswalks makes it very dangerous.
